Tired Soul

Posted on September 23, 2020 by chrystal

This will likely be the nail in the coffin for some of the people that aren’t sure if they want to remain friends because I’m too opinionated or something. Oh well.

My soul is tired today. But this is not the kind of tired that some yoga or a nap can fix. This is much deeper and there is no easy fix.

We are dealing with a corrupt government, a terrible two party system and puppets allowing a deranged person to turn this country into a fascist state.

We are dealing with a group of people that swore to protect us only protecting themselves. Stray bullets into an apartment wall meaning more than an innocent woman just trying to get some sleep.

Countless deaths of Black people are being mourned while others are shouting that All Lives Matter. But when it comes time to prove that, they dismiss the lives of someone else because perhaps they once got a parking ticket and suddenly that’s justifiable. Yet when a cis white male shoots up a church or school he’s taken through the drive thru for dinner and called a quiet boy with mental health issues.

While we mourn these deaths, we’re faced with additional pain. Over 200,000 deaths to be exact because the President wanted to downplay the virus that has plagued our country. The people in charge do what they can to silence the voices of scientists and delete critical information. The same people that scream All Lives Matter fight tired cashiers about the mask mandate because suddenly it impedes on their freedom. Or the virus is a hoax. Yet when I mention that it took people I love, they had underlying conditions so did it?

We are living through a global pandemic and no one else seems to care. Grandpa is old anyway, he’s lived a nice long life, right?

The country is on fire. Literal fire because some people don’t believe in climate change. There won’t be a world left for our children to inherit.

We’re told to go vote. Vote for Joe! Expand the Supreme Court! We can all do our best but what happens to the votes some people are trying to suppress? You know the votes — the votes from the “not so nice” neighborhoods. The “marxists, looters and anarchists” or whatever the President said. We’re not going to expand the Supreme Court. It’s been tried before. But the President has the votes to replace RBG, a little over a month prior to the election. After one Senator told everyone to let him eat his words if another Supreme Court Justice dies during an election year.

We let the equal rights, reproductive rights and LBGTQ rights (to name a few) fall on the shoulders of a frail woman that stood to be 5’1 and 90 lbs soaking wet. Working until her death to protect others. With her passing, we’re again fighting for affordable healthcare, Roe v. Wade, and basic civil and human rights. All while our spineless leaders squabble and line their pockets.

So what color do you want your handmaid robe to be? I like grey personally. Because that is what you’re going to get with Amy Coney Barrett taking the helm.

I feel like I’ve been fighting an endless battle daily for the last 5+ years.

Back in 2015 we warned you, we gave you an explanation. Yet you persisted. Why? Because he tells it like it is! He isn’t a politician – he’s a business man! Never mind all of his failed business, marriages and all the women he paid off to silence them. Never mind the racism. Never mind the sexual assault allegations. The mocking of a disable reporter. The golf trips on the country’s dime while people are dying alone from a deadly virus he waived off. What is it going to take?

So please excuse my not so cheery demeanor. My soul is tired and aching. I’m tired of fighting but I won’t give up. Too much is at stake for me to just quit now. I’ll take a page from the RBG playbook and fight until I can’t stand, speak or write anymore.
