A narrative on love and teamwork

Posted on December 28, 2019 by chrystal

When I started writing again a few years ago it was because I was breathing new life into myself. I had stopped in my early 20’s because I didn’t feel like I had any support or a creative bone in my body.

I still don’t feel like I’m creative most days, but I write out those insecurities instead of letting it fester.

I’ve kept this blog up for a while now and try to contribute as much as I can. But I also have the support I so desperately needed when I gave up ten years ago. It can be really hard at times and I still get plenty of bouts of writer’s block, but there is one person that truly believes in me and keeps me going.

I opened my gifts on Christmas morning, one being an envelope addressed to me. Inside was a picture and explanation of what my gift was, a care package for female writers. The description noted it was monthly and would include words of encouragement, sample work from other female writers, artisan soaps, small trinkets and teas — all the things I enjoy in my down time anyway. I looked up and smiled because it was such a thoughtful gift. “Because you are officially a published author” he said upon noticing me looking up. I didn’t cry because I was distracted by the chaos of Christmas morning with two kids, but my heart was filled with joy.

Even throughout all my doubting of myself, my ability and my talents, my husband has been by my side, pushing me to follow my dreams and standing by my side when those dreams come true. He was the first to buy my book, before I even had a copy of it.

Things like that keep me going. Keep me writing and pushing myself to achieve more. A reminder that even though I sometimes don’t, there is always someone that will believe in me. I pushed him and did all the things he felt uncomfortable doing when his first book was released, and he’s doing it right back. I only hope he feels the same as I do, on top of the world with the most amazing person/teammate/hype person/biggest fan by he side. We’ll conquer the world someday, at least in the author world.
