About two years ago I started writing down ideas for a book. I wrote down names, character bios, tidbits of information that wouldn’t make sense to anyone if they hacked into the notes on my iPhone. I kept a notebook by my bed so any idea that would come up while reading another book wouldn’t be missed. I pinned quotes and words to use. I promoted two books for Billy not only because I love and support him, but so I could figure out how to promote a book of my own one day.
I watched from the sidelines as he published his first book with a crowdfunding publisher and then again on his own. I took his experiences, a Pinterest board full of inspirational quotes, two notebooks of random thoughts and some unwavering support and finally threw everything in a Google document. Once the American Writers Museum opened (and I finally got to see it) I told myself I need to really work on this. Stop reading what all these other incredible authors write and crank out my own. Be on that wall someday.

This month has consisted of putting paragraphs on paper. Forming chapters. The whole NaNoWriMo challenge but without forcing myself to write so many words a day and instead just taking my time. I realize that defeats the purpose but who cares? It’s my book. I’ve kept it mostly a secret from everyone from the first stages and concept until last night when I got inspired to write and accidentally stayed up until 2:30 in the morning writing. Whoops.
It is far from done. I have a few broken chapters under my belt. I will always get distracted and that’s fine, but feel free to badger me a little if you see me tweeting at 11:30 pm. I realize as I’m writing this, I’m clearly dealing with another distraction. But I’m still writing so I guess it’s not all that bad. One day it will be finished and maybe I’ll actually share the big bad novel I’ve been trying to write.
That’s all for now. Just wanted to share a personal update. <3
