To Whom It May Concern,
I want to highlight the Indy Fuel organization. The players, the ice girls, the staff in ticket sales, Nitro (and his handlers – I know that dragon must be hard to maintain), down to the person (or people) that decided to let parents work to make money for their children’s school. This organization is doing it right.
I started off attending a few games in 2015 and sending my son with my cousin to see some games to becoming a huge fan of this team. You see, I’ve been attending hockey games since I was just a small child. I grew up with the Indianapolis Ice and the Chicago Blackhawks. I’m sure you can imagine my excitement when I found out that not only was hockey back in Indiana, but it was affiliated with my favorite NHL team. I even got to see the Stanley Cup up close! I love my hometown teams and try to frequent as many Pacers, Fuel and Indians games as possible every year without breaking the bank. I’m a single mom after all, so I need to stay on my budget!
After 2015, my son became a huge hockey fan. He loved meeting players after the games, being sprayed with silly string by Nitro, featured on the jumbotron and dressing up for themed nights. He requested a hockey birthday party last year, so my first thought was to hire Nitro. That was a blast! Nitro was so much fun and worth every penny spent. He even played hockey with my kids and let Hayden win. I think Nitro recognizes my children now.
Last year we drove all the way to Carmel to meet one of our personal favorite players (Zach Miskovic), Tyler Currier and Nitro, with special guest Santa. The players were so incredibly sweet to my children, even holding hands with my daughter Addison while crossing the street. You also featured them on the Indy Fuel Instagram account.
We came out for the party on the circle recently to see Nitro and meet some players like your All-Star Alex Wideman and my personal favorite, Tommy Olczyk. The Indy Fuel featured the picture with Hayden and the players on the Instagram account and my kids were blown away by all the likes they got once again.
My children love making it on the video board, and while I was a little embarrassed at the time, I loved being on the kiss cam with my now fiancé. He comes down from Chicago to watch and is always impressed with the way the Indy Fuel interacts with and treats their fans.
But, that’s not all! I got the idea to write this after the game last night. (12/8/17) My very shy daughter noticed that some of the ice girls were grouped together and taking pictures with some fans. She ran over to them, so excited to meet them because they are “the most beautiful cheerleaders in the world.” One ice girl in particular (Mads McGill on Twitter) reached out to her and gave her a giant hug. They talked to her about cheering and if she is excited about the game. Addison ran back over to me and proudly proclaimed that she wasn’t shy and wants to be a cheerleader now. Addison continued to point the girls out for the rest of the evening, so naturally, I added it on Twitter and we made it on the video board. I received a very sweet notification that the ice girl I mentioned retweeted my picture. We’ve since connected and followed each other on there. She said to please bring Addison by anytime we’re there for the rest of the season because Addison made her night.
I continue to be impressed by this team and I’m looking forward to being back for the ECHL All-Star game and (hopefully) Blackhawks night! I’m thankful for the chance to attend games and provide my kids with wonderful memories. This organization is wonderful and I hope it’s around for a long time.
