I am the storm. I am the resistance.

Posted on January 31, 2017October 26, 2018 by chrystal

It’s been ten days since the country inaugurated a new president. Ten days of living in fear. Ten days of not knowing what will happen next.

I watched proud women march the next day, not knowing what the future of their rights and access to affordable healthcare would be. They were the start of the very important resistance.

I’ve watched the incredibly smug Mike Pence dismiss these women in my home state, now doing it on a wider scale.

I listened to the president whine about the march, dismissing the crowd size as he started signing scary executive orders. Then continue to claim he had the largest inauguration crowd. He must see his crowds and hands differently.

I listened to people say all his voters were just at work that day. Good for them. I know President Obama worked very hard to get that unemployment rate down so they could work!

I watched some scary interviews with his handpicked billionaires. None (but maybe one) are even qualified. Looking primarily at you, Betsy. But we all appreciate you making sure bears don’t end up in our schools! Your science denying friends, billionaires that you owe favors to, white supremacists.

I watched you sign lives away with trying to repeal ACA. No longer is my chronic pain covered, but that’s NOTHING compared to so many others. This will kill people. You don’t have a replacement!

I watched those awful press conferences with that liar. But don’t worry, Kellyanne has you covered. Those were alternative facts, right? Again, about your crowd size. Dude, grow up. I’ve seen my four year old act with more maturity than you do. You don’t even care that we’re fact checking and proving you wrong. You’re probably busy watching Alec Baldwin on loop for tweet material.

You won’t address the real problems. Flint, healthcare, global warming. You’re busy instead with spreading hate by finding twenty billion to build a wall. Berlin built a wall once. Do you remember reading about that? It wasn’t good then. It won’t be good here. Our nation is built on immigration. The only native people to this nation are the ones you don’t care about because you want to go through with the pipeline. People come here for freedom. The American Dream. But you’re denying that right.

But who knew that was only the start of this? Now the #MuslimBan that is completely unconstitutional. You’ve ripped families apart over this. You don’t want to allow refugees into our beautiful country because there was a few bad apples. Even though the countries you put on the ban list haven’t attacked us. They just want a safe place. Funny though, the few countries you do business with didn’t make that ban list. 🤔

But because of this, I saw lawyers bunkering down and offering their services for free. I saw people that truly cared in that airport. I saw signs that reminded everyone detained that they are welcome here, in our great nation. You detained people who served your country, that kept our men alive. You detained small children. What a horrible thing to do. But that’s it right? No. You fired the attorney general, who was on her way out anyway. What an ugly thing to do.

Are you aware of how many people signed a petition to get you impeached? White House record!

I tried, Mr. President. I did. I’m supposed to just welcome you with an open heart. But I can’t. I can’t let that much hate into my heart. I am the resistance. You make a dangerous move, I’ll be on the phone with my senator. You take away my rights, or anyone’s rights, I’ll be right there with a sign in my hand. I wanted you to come in and fix things. Instead you’ve destroyed lives. I will resist you. I will choose love and fight for those who you smack down with your tiny little hands.
