It’s officially 2016. Well, it has been for a few days now. But I’ve been busy. I spent all of Friday doing absolutely nothing and not thinking about my crazy life. I don’t know how the first day of the new year can be topped because it was completely perfect from 12:00 am to 11:59 pm.
I’m happy to have 2015 behind me. There wasn’t a lot of good to come from last year. I’m thankful to be in good health, have happy and healthy children, someone absolutely amazing in my life, and the end to a horrible relationship. The good almost outweighed the bad, but at the end of the day I welcomed the end of the year. I’m thrilled to see what this year brings. I have a good feeling about it.
I actually have a good feeling about the next few years to come. I have weeded out the negativity and have moved on. I’m much happier, calmer, and embracing life again. I know the whole “new year – new me” thing is cliche, but I feel like a newer version of myself.
I’m thankful for those who embrace me, accept me for exactly who I am. I’m happy that there are people in this world who love me for my quirks, my inner geek, and my dry sense of humor. I’m relieved that someone thinks I’m pretty and wants a future with me.
So a friendly reminder for everyone- chase you dreams. Be passionate. Never be ashamed of who you are because someone out there could be in love with all of you. Choose happiness every single day. As a good friend once told me, “You are beautiful and stronger than you think.” I’m going to continue to follow those rules and believe in myself.
