It’s 6:36 am. I’m dragging my tired self to the food court attached to my resort to purchase snacks for the road. I’m grumpy, exhausted, and just wishing teleportation was a real thing. My shins are on fire, my back sore. But again, I’m doing this for the kids that I love so much.
Somehow my tired eyes notice something moving in the grass. As I walk a little closer I notice a sweet little bunny, enjoying a breakfast of dew soaked grass. At the moment I smiled and wondered, “does she know she’s having breakfast at Disney, the happiest place on earth? Am I suddenly Snow White? Did this place turn me into a princess? Why can’t I be Sleeping Beauty? She’s my favorite after all.”
I often forget to sit back and live in the moment. Disney World can be a stressful place. My group ranged anywhere from 5-11 people depending on the day. I had a very well behaved 5 year old, and a very overwhelmed nearly 3 year old. There were meltdowns in nearly every line. There were plenty of moments where I wanted to cry, or just leave the park all together.
But there were also moments of pure bliss. Seeing the look on my children’s faces when they met their favorite characters. Those faces were worth every penny spent. Worth feeling completely overwhelmed, sore, and beyond exhausted. I loved hearing Hayden say “that was the best ride ever” after every single ride. I loved seeing my princess meet every princess she knows. There was a glimmer in her eyes and a melodic little squeal of excitement when she got to the front of the line. Not to mention, my favorite baseball team clinched a playoff spot for the first time ever at their home field. That left me singing and skipping out of Epcot. (Could have also been the beer and wine.)
This trip reminded me how much I need to live in the moment. Be happy to be where I am. I spent all week in Disney World. I ate delicious food, tried incredible wine. I was with a part of my huge family. I rode Star Tours more than I am willing to admit. I even met the Property Brothers. Spoiler alert: they are beautiful in person.
So thank you, small and sweet bunny. Thank you for making me feel like Snow White this morning. No, that’s not right. Thank you for reminding me that I was also spending my mornings in the happiest place on earth. Enjoy the moment, because life flies by.
That’s enough inspiration for 7:36 on a Thursday morning. Goodbye, Disney. Thank you for the beautiful memories.
